My experience with LaCie has been mixed. I have had some LaCie external drives that have lasted me for a long time and others that have crapped out a lot faster than that. What I have found, is that the drive inside of the case differs from box to box and because of that, you could receive a faulty drive and not even know it, until it goes bad and you hear the dreaded clicking sounds when it is trying to boot up.
The other downside of the drives, is that besides the aesthetics which are great, you can get a similar drive with the same specs as this for a whole lot cheaper.
Overall, I feel that LaCie makes an ok product, but there are definitely better options at lower price points.
